At around 14:00 on March 12, a U.S. KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq. The deaths of four of the six crew members have been confirmed, and search-and-rescue operations are ongoing.
U.S. forces have lost a KC-135 refueling aircraft as a result of a crash in western Iraq.
Oxu.Az reports that the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) shared the information on its account on the social network X.
It was stated that the incident occurred in “friendly airspace” during Operation “Inherent Resolve,” and that rescue operations are currently ongoing.
According to the report, two aircraft were involved in the incident. One crashed in western Iraq, while the other landed safely.
The command emphasized that the crash was not the result of either enemy or friendly fire.
It is reported that all six crew members of the KC-135 aircraft were killed.
“The causes of the incident are being investigated,” the statement said.
“The identities of the service members are not released until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified,” the statement noted.
A 4.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in the waters off the Kaş district of Türkiye’s Antalya province.
Oxu.Az reports that Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) released the information.
According to the report, the seismic event was recorded at 8:35 local time (9:35 Baku time).
The news report said the earthquake, with its epicenter at a depth of 12.5 kilometers, occurred 145 kilometers from the nearest settlement.
No information has been reported about casualties or damage.
