Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Oxu.Az reports, citing the Independent, that the 72-year-old monarch will travel to China for treatment.
It is reported that he and his mother, Norodom Monineath, went to Beijing at the end of February for scheduled checkups. No information has been provided about the stage of the cancer.
It should be noted that Sihamoni’s father, Norodom Sihanouk, was also diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1993 and lived until 2012 after treatment.
Sihamoni became king in October 2004 after his father abdicated the throne. He previously served as Cambodia’s ambassador to UNESCO and is known as a classical ballet dancer.
