Constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan: Exit poll results announced

According to the results of the "exit-poll" conducted by the Eurasian Integration Institute, 86.7% of the citizens participating in the survey supported the new constitution. According to information broadcasted on the "Xabar" TV channel, the survey covered 200 polling stations located in cities and villages, and a total of 30,000 respondents participated.

According to the results of the "exit-poll" conducted by the "Astana Social Research Complex Institute - Social Research Fund," 87.4% of the referendum participants supported the new constitution. The survey was conducted at 200 polling stations, with a voter turnout of 73.8%. The margin of statistical error was reported as ±1.5%.

According to the "exit-poll" results presented by the Public Policy Institute of the "Amanat" party, 88.6% of those who voted in the referendum supported the new constitution. This survey was also conducted at 200 polling stations, with 24 thousand respondents participating.

Polling stations opened for voting in the referendum on the new constitution draft in Kazakhstan closed at 20:00 local time.

According to the information, the majority of polling stations in the country started operating at 07:00. Some stations, including those located at military units, opened from 06:00.

Meanwhile, some stations operating abroad are still open. The last of these is located in San Francisco, USA, and will remain open until the morning of March 16.

According to the Central Referendum Commission, the voter turnout as of 18:00 local time was 70.98%. Thus, the referendum is considered to have taken place since more than 50% of citizens included in the voter lists participated in the voting.
